Random Colour

A colour, or a palette of them, with the hex, RGB and HSL codes ready to copy. Take the whole wheel, or hold it to a family — vivid, pastel, deep, or a band around one hue.

All the way left is the whole colour wheel; anywhere else narrows it to a band around that hue.

Tap a swatch or a code to copy it.

Why it generates in HSL

Picking three random bytes gives you a random colour, but mostly a muddy one. Choosing a hue, a saturation and a lightness instead is what makes pastel and deep mean something, and it is why the palettes here hang together.

The hex and RGB codes are converted from that, so what you copy is exactly what is on the screen.

Building a palette

Ask for several colours at once and narrow the hue band: you get a set that belongs together rather than a set that merely arrived together.

Tap any swatch to copy its hex, or any code row to copy that one format.
