The order is the point

Going down a list twice teaches the list, not the words: the third answer comes back because the second one did, not because it is known. Drawing at random breaks the chain that memory was leaning on.

The whole pack is drawn before any card comes back, so nothing is missed on the way through, and the shuffle is fresh each time round.

Turn the pack around

The option to show the answer side first turns a recognition drill into a recall drill, which is much harder and much more use before an exam.
