A caption buried under thirty tags reads as spam to a person and adds almost nothing for the machine. A short set that actually matches the post is the version that gets engaged with.

Each draw mixes crowded tags with quieter ones. The crowded ones are gone in seconds; the quiet ones are where a small account is actually found.

The tags stay in English on purpose

Hashtags are not translated by the people who use them: a photographer in Hanoi and one in Lisbon both tag a photo the same way, and a translated tag would reach nobody.
