Out of order on purpose

Reciting the seven times table in order teaches the order, not the table. A child who can chant to seventy often cannot answer 7 × 6 cold, and this page is for the second thing.

Both numbers are drawn, so 6 × 7 and 7 × 6 both come up. They are the same fact and they do not feel like it until they do.

Twelve, then twenty

Twelve is where most curricula stop. Twenty is where the tables stop being memorised and start being worked out, which is a different and later skill.
