These are genres, not micro-genres. "Jazz" sends you somewhere; "third-wave Norwegian nu-jazz" sends you to one album and a dead end.
The list spans several continents rather than sitting inside one tradition, because a genre generator that only knows Anglo-American pop is a shorter list than it thinks it is.
The useful way to use this is to give the drawn genre an hour before judging it. Most first impressions of a genre are impressions of one badly chosen track.
