Four, which is not everywhere true
Much of the tropics has two seasons rather than four — a wet one and a dry one — and the four-season year is a temperate idea. This list uses the four because that is what most writing and most classrooms assume.
The two hemispheres are half a year apart, so a season on its own says nothing about the month.
